General Cardiology
Jerry Walker, MD, FACC
I developed my interest in Cardiology while serving as an Air Force Flight Surgeon years ago. The heart truly is central to human physiology and our emotional well being. I believe we have the ability to care for our heart in so many ways before we even step foot into the medical clinic. We can empower ourselves through even modest amounts of physical activity and simple changes in our dietary habits.
I love sharing what knowledge I have acquired about the heart with my patients. I spent years as a faculty member of the University of Utah prior to my arrival at the Idaho Heart Institute. I believe that patients can make sound decisions about their own care when they have a full explanation of the purpose of the tests we order, medical conditions discovered through testing, and their strategies of care.
I am particularly interested in cardiac imaging, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, stress testing, and medical education.
My wife and I moved to Idaho so that she could attend BYU Idaho and complete her formal education. We absolutely love the people and the beauty of this great state. Our two standard poodles love it here as well. We are the parents of six wonderful children. We are actively serving in our local church ward in Rexburg. We love to explore the dirt roads of the Idaho countryside and parks in our truck. I have a healthy love/hate relationship with the game of golf. I love to shoot and fish. I wear a kilt on special occasions and I am known to drive my wife nuts at times when I play my bagpipes. Life is really good!
